just a quicky.....can you use a PAL memory card on a japenese machine?

Yes, they're region-free but you'll have to format it to the Japan region - it'll do this first time you use it

EDIT - you need a separate card for each region - Jpn, US etc

yeah, they're not so much region encoded as language encoded. you need an English formatted card for US/PAL games and a Japanese formatted card for JPN games.
