    Memorable game sounds!

    Hi all,

Basically I am looking for some memorable game sounds for use with my mobile, and PC as sound alerts and stuff. You know the things I mean - like the little ditty from Zelda when you get an item etc.

I just can't think of anything other than the Zelda one - nice and short so perfect for email alerts, texts etc.

    Any suggestions welcome!

    Thanks!

My phone plays the old Capcom jingle when I get a text message. Works really well as an alert.

Nice! That's the kind of thing I am thinking about!

Things like the Metal Gear Solid Codec noise too - though that's rather short - and looping it needs to be done just right!

I really like the idea of the MGS codec as a message alert but my phone can only play MIDI files. Anyone know where I can get a MIDI of it?

Converting WAV to MP3 is easy. I always liked winLAME for a straight conversion when I was on Windows.

I knew a guy at University who had the Capcom jingle play when he got a text.

Cool - but I'm pretty sure that the proper thing would be better than the MIDI file on VGMusic.com?

Speaking of "jingles", would I be alone in thinking that the old 16-bit era Konami Jingle would work just as well for message alerts?

Nice ideas there chaps! Keep em coming!

I use DBPoweramp to convert my Wavs to MP3 etc, very useful, sure you can get a shareware version out there somewhere!

Is this thread about what makes a cool mobile text alert or cool game sounds ?

If it's the latter thre can't be many more instantly recognisable than Sonics "Ring Get" sound.

We NEED to find the Killer 7 "found important thing" sound.

I MUST have that as a message alert.

I myself just want some inspiration for customising things with sounds, but that said discussion of any and all memorable games sounds would be welcome - but then perhaps that should go in general gaming?!

The sound when you get spotted in MGS games.

If my phone wasnt from 1984, i'd so have that.

I used to have the Super Hang-On title loop playing as my ringtone.
