    N64 Passport III

I have one and it works for NTSC games on my PAL machine, but does it really also do PAL games on NTSC machines?
(how could it be that simple while they usually make it so hard? lol)

I have an NTSC machine, and this played PAL carts fine.

I seem to recall you had to have carts with certain opcodes plugged into the back (Mario64 seemed a good one).

You don't need to widen the insert slot so the passport will fit?

N64 slots dont need widening to play games from any region as all the carts are the same size. Tabs inside the cart slot have to be removed.

          Well, that's what I meant ^^
But that has to be done on both the US and JAP version?

No, the Passport fits all cartridge slots regardless of internal tabs. It means it conveniently works as a bridge adaptor to run US games on Japanese systems and vice versa without doing the mod to enable it.

                Ah, ok!
But the tab mod HAS to be applied for US machines to play JAP games, as well as JAP machines to play US games?

So actually, aside from the tabs, there is no difference between a US or JAP N64?

Got a RGB modded jap N64 in today and tried to play PAL games on it with my N64 Passport, but that didn't work.
Does the original passport not work on NTSC console or something?

The passport plus 3 works great for ntsc via pal, but never had any joy the other way around.

Yeah ok, but I have the original Passport, so not "Plus 3".
I'm trying to figure out if that one doesn't play PAL games on NTSC machines...?

It works with NTSC games on my PAL machine, so maybe the first version was region bonded?

Sorry....the original Passport is next to useless

Version 2 is better, but the plus 3 will play everything you throw at it via a couple of codes.
