What are the plus points of upgrading to XP Pro being as I only use the PC for my digital camera and games?

its just my opinion well if he just uses it for digi camera and games then fine. i wouldn't touch xp home with a barge pole. its just after using many home versions of windows before there just ****e.

The only upgrade I was thinking of is a DVD burner but then not to sure as the market has not set on one format yet.Is it worth getting a TFT screen,at the moment I have a 17 in CRT which works fine is there any real plus points to a TFT?

Thanks so far for all your comments.

Don't waste your money on a TFT, if you're going to be playing games a decent CRT will be superior as well as a lot cheaper. Most cheaper TFTs on the market will be especially shoddy, you have to pay mega bucks to get a half decent one, not worth the effort.

The 19" Mitsubishi Diamond pro shown with that setup in the original link is an excellent screen, as is the 17" 750SB version which I am using now.

There's never been Home and Pro versions of windows like there is now. XP Home and XP Pro are both based on the NT kernel and are 99% identical.

The differences are EFS, connecting to domains, remote desktop, IIS and dual CPU's. Otherwise the OS's are identical.

Do you use those features? Did he say he used those features? If he needs those features then recommend the upgrade, don't tell him to add another ?50 on top without knowing what you're talking about
