VGA cable or VGA Box for dreamcast?

Want to get my DC hooked up to my monitor. Is there big differences between the box and just the VGA cable?

Also, is it worth going for the official one's or is third party decent enough? Cheers.

With the VGA Box, you can do the little trick to get some non-VGA games working in VGA by flicking the switch from S-Video to VGA just as the 'Produced by...' screen appears.

Ah, I see. Is there a lot of games that don't work with VGA?

No, not many. I had more problems with games that didn't work through RGB than I have with VGA. Only 16 games don't work according to the compatibility list here.
