Leaving cartridge in console bad?

I always leave a cart in my Snes, not sure why it would be bad unless we are talking a serious amount of time with no changing of them?

Ah this is one of those debates like dont leave your TV standby on and always unplug everything

My missus religiously takes her cds out of the xbox for fear it will blow up with it in, her folks have terrified her into unplugging everything when its not being used.

Its a myth, it will do no damage at all, however if you leave it in the console and play it for like 24+hrs non stop then the heat may damage the cart slightly but thats all I can see.

I don't totally recall what I read, but it was something like if you leave your cartridge in your system, it can be bad for the connector.

As with many cartridge based consoles, if you leave cartridges in them for too long whilst not in use you can damage the cartridge connector.

the metals react to one another, keeping them in contact for longer than is nessecary will cause them to degrade faster than if they were kept in a box.

i was told many moons ago that the magnetic nature of carts and the machine will kill whats inside the cart and machine if left in contact with each other for a long duration of time. Kinda like TVs and VHS video cassettes. The magnets inside both will ruin each other. Some one please tell me this is a load of bollocks so i can sleep at night! Ive not slept well for the last 20 years!
