    PS2 Slimline in Japan

Hi there everyone. I'm fairly new here and have a fairly big problem.

I am soon to be moving to Japan and wish to take a PS2 with me. I have a modded silver PS2 and a sizeable collection of PAL and US NTSC games. However, due to size being a consideration I was thinking of picking up a PAL PS2 slimline and having it modded again. The problem I'm having is figuring out how to run it on the Japanese mains supply which is only 100V and variable 50/60hz.

I can't find step up transformers that will go from Japanese 100V to the European 220-240V. I have seen these a number of times (http://www.kanection.co.uk/product.p...f2245034ab6926) and was wondering if they would be any use with the correct 3 to 2 pin plug adaptors. If not, does anyone know where I can get adaptors that would allow me to use a PAL machine on a Japanese mains?

Im just guess'ing here so id get someone much more intelligent than me to confirm this, but as the slimlines psu is external can you not just buy a jap psu and use that? I think?Maybe?..

The slimline has an external dual voltage PSU, it'll run on Japanese/US mains just fine. All you need is a figure 8 to 2 pin Japanese lead, which won't cost more than a couple of quid.

So that's not a problem, however the problem you may encounter is using PAL stuff on a Japanese TV, but I don't know much about that.

That's a load off my mind. Just rang Sony customer service and they said the same thing. I'll need to look into a PAL to NTSC converter or bying a TV over there that can take a PAL signal.

Depending on what chip you have you may be able to set it to force NTSC output for all games. Some games don't like it but for those that work it'll solve the problem of running PAL stuff on an NTSC TV.

It may be worth looking into HDTVs since those have the resolution to handle PAL and so are more likely to support it.

Cheers for all the help. I'm nearly sorted but have one last question... can anyone recomend a reasonably priced (?30 or under ideally) PAL to NTSC converter that will display both PAL 50 and 60hz so that I can display both PAL and US NTSC games on a japanese TV?
