Buying songs from the Music shops in Saints Row. Is there any point?

I know theres like a huge list of songs from all types some of which I love (Slaughter, Ratt, Editors) but why are they for sale in the game?

Do u get to rip them to your HD, or can u just play them when u feel like or what?

They cost money in the game & personally it would be better spent on ammo.

You can add them to your music player in-game to play on a playlist of your choice, whenever you like.

The price per song is measly! Doesn't break the bank.
