Can I protect my handheld screens without a "Protector"?

Or can anyone recommend to me a screen protector that ISN'T by Hori? I don't want to hear all the BS about them being the leaders in that field and all that - the one I bought for my psp just about a week ago is now in the bin, simply because its ****. Aligning the damned thing completely straight was impossible and I never did manage it, then when I tried to remove the protector using a piece of tape, just as the instructions in "Jinglish" told me to, I thought "Ok, cool I got the protector off the screen, now how do I get the tape off the protector?"

Such a contraption is quite seriously a joke, why bother with a screen protector if its just going to end up with all the scratches on it rather the screen itself? How do you win?

Well, it was packaged in the same hori packaging that you'd see on amazon for example, any way in particular to tell if it was a knockoff?

The quality of the thing was ok for what was basically a small sheet of plastic, the damn thing was a finger print/hair magnet however, and when you get crap like that stuck to some fancy pants adhesive, you know you got BIG problems.

Because the screen protector is cheaper to replace than the screen?
