whats the best lead to get?

I got a cheap unoffical one off ebay for ?8... came and didnt work.

So would I be best to get the official one?

the sender says to return it to him and he'll look at it and send a replacement. Should I tell him I want a refund?

I don't think there should be much difference, but the official comes with a gender changer, digital audio output (I don't think the other do that) and audio splitter.

What's the point spending hundreds on a console and same/even more on a TV and scrimping on the connecting lead ? official all the way, even if it is a tenner more than the third party ones.

Although if you can afford a monster cable its probly the best way to go glad i got mine although that mainly because ill be using the HD-DVD player add on so i want the best possable picture

I think so long as you go for a branded one of some sort, you should be alright.

I use the Joytech one, which seems excellent, and I assume is still loads cheaper than the official MS one. Doesn't come with any extra convertors, but its not like you can't pick them up for all of 50p on eBayMaplins if you ever need them.

at the end of the day its the same signal going down the same kind of wire into the same TV. I honestly can't see it making a significant difference.

we don't have a hd tv yet (Wont do till about xmas) So i want a vga lead to use on my 17inch moniter (not widescreen) in the mean time

heh, I thought that too, Maplins charge ?6 for the female/female VGA adaptor !! and I was too impatient to wait for delivery from the interweb so went for the official one.

I have to advise everybody who reads this thread, what ever you do, don't buy anything VGA wise from that bloody MadKatz company...

Having picked up my 360 from launch and finding out there were no bloody VGA cables to go with it, (I have a monitor... no TV see), and no-one in the UK seemed to have them in stock, I bought one of MadKatz VGA cables on import... yes, I was desperate to play my 360... (

Never again. Atrocious picture quality. Washed out colours and ghosting and interference. When I finally got hold of the official cable, the difference was incredible... I finally got to see what my 360 really was capable of...

I have no idea what the rest of their gear is like, but if that cable is anything to go by, well, it's probably absolute pony.

i traded my official component cable for the vga one at cex and only hadda pay ?6 on top. well worth it imo.

with cables i'll try and go official as much as possible. at the moment my xbox is the only one with a 3rd party lead (component)

yeah, the official cable is great quality. the quality of your 360 experience is only as good as the weakest link, and why waste it by scrimping on a tenner.
