    Ridge Racers 2 hanging prob

It hangs a lot at the save screen after a race. Its the screen where the two little wheels are turning. Does this happen to anyone else? My PSP is a JPN launch unit, updated to 2.81 firmware.
I have to turn the PSP off and on again to get around it, as simply pressing Home and jumping back to the menu and then reloading the game causes the same thing to happen. It seems to happen every three or four races and is quite annoying as I have to keep repeating races.

I'd appreciate any help with this as it's becoming quite tiresome to play.

    Thanx.

Weird, I haven't had that at all. Have you had a look at the UMD to make sure it hasn't picked up any dirt? The other thing to look at could be the Memory Stick - I could be wrong but I think the screen you describe is the autosave screen. Is it possible that it is having trouble accessing your Memory Stick?

That's right, it is the autosave screen where it messes up. The disc hasn't been out of the PSP since I took it out of the box, and there are zero blemishes on it. I'm using an official PSP 1GB mem stick. I know that there was a problem with games accessing 2GB sticks, but that was fixed back at 2.6 update, so I'm a bit miffed as to why it's happening. My other games are all working fine. I just can't get my head around it.

I have worked out that it happens a lot less if I use O to advance screens after races instead of using X. This seems mighty weird though, and I can't see how it would affect things, but it deffinitely does seem to be.

That's really odd. I have no idea. By the way, I'm running a 4GB memory stick and I'm still on 1.5 firmware so the size of the memory stick can't be it. If you're not having any trouble with any other game then it can't be the stick itself I guess.

Either you've been unlucky enough to get a dodgy copy of the game or there has been a bug somewhere in the saving. Maybe your save file is corrupt somehow. Try backing up your current save, starting a new game and seeing if you still have the same problem. At least that way you'll know if it is your UMD or not. I can't imagine why using different buttons would make a difference.

Do other games save alright on the same memory stick?

Yes, my other games are working fine. RR2 is my newest purchase.
