Just wondering if there was any difference between the US and EU version of this in gameplay terms? Are there different holidays or anything?

Also, is there any advantage to buying a new copy, like the presents in the GC version?

a) nope, its identical I think
b) nope, wont make any difference if its new or not.

The one difference that I've noticed is with the presents you get from Nintendo via the wi-fi connection. UK versions of the game got some Mario-themed things that US version didn't.
