    JAP PS3 question

OK, I'll never buy one of these, but a colleague of mine knows someone who works in shipping and can get him a PS3 for ? 200.
As I'm currently at work, I don't have a lot of time to check what he asks.

Is the power board internally/externally: does he need a stepdown converter or does the powerboard autodetect and can work on 110/220 is what I want to know.

Are PS3 games regionfree (lol)? as he wants to play PAL games on it (the wanker).

As far as I know, he needs a stepdown (how many Watts?) and a chip of some sorts (steps into DeLorean) to play PAL games.

    Thanks.

Very much doubt it will have a dual psu (like the PStwo does), so a meaty 300W stepdown is in order.
PS3s are promised to be region free and publishers can choose to make them region locked in software (i.e. expect the vast majority to be region locked). Sony's promises though are normally with fingers crossed.
PS3 for 200 euro? sounds dodge (sorry, but it does).

      Thanks.
That's what I thought initially, but as I'm not interested in the console, I couldn't care less to be honest.

I'll tell him about the FAQ.
As for the dodgyness, I think it's a present of some sorts for the shippers?
      I dunno...

      Cheers!
