LAN transferring files

Really an pc novice, and this stuff over my head, anyway

trying to put some of my stuff from pc to my new laptop and wondering just how you actually do this..

have wireless router, connected two cat5's to it and other ends to the respective comps..

botgh recognises that they are on a lan, but cant do much else ..
people around here must know about these and how to, advice greatly appreciated !

I guess if you goto the network setup wizard which is in the start menu/ accessories/communications bit. This shoud guide you through setting up a connection between the 2 PCs

make sure both machines are on the same workgrup, then right click on folder you want to share (c: if you want).

Then open up my network places and bobs your antie's weekend alter ego!

(make sure yor firewalls are disabled for doing this, you can open up ports and things but just disconnecting your router from net for 10mins and disabling firewall is the easiest way,lol)
