    PC Engine DUO PSU

Need a little help on this. Just aquired a PC Engine DUO but the PSU died after one night in the stepdown. The specs on the original Japanese PSU are 10V, 1000mA, DC. I had to build a new PSU from various parts but the closest I could get was 9V, 1000mA, DC as finding anything 10V is near impossible (most electronic stores carry either 9V or 12V). I don't know if I'm imagining things but I think the colours on screen aren't as bright as they were when it was running on the original PSU. But at least it works.

However I have an old Megadrive 1 PSU that is rated at 10V, 1200mA, DC. Before I butcher another PSU by soldering on a plug that fits the DUO I thought I would ask; which would be the better to have running through the console? Correct Voltage but higher amperage or a lower voltage but correct amps? Any help on this would be greatly appriciated.

You're best to have a PSU which provides the correct voltage and more amps. You won't have more amps running through the console, because amps are only "drawn" by what the equipment needs.

I don't know how much difference that extra volt will make, but if I had a choice I'd definitely use the 10V, 1200mA one.

    Stroller.

I use my PC Engine Duo at 9V and works normally.

any chance to long term damage?
