Higher Capacity Memory Card Due for Release?

Was planning on picking up a memory card yesterday to back up some of my saves from the HDD. However, in a surprising show of honesty from the GAME staff they mentioned that it would be best to wait as a 256MB memory card was due later this year.

    Is this true?

There is definitely a 256MB card coming, but a release date hasn't been set. I'm sure it will be out this year though.

EDIT, just googled and found this interview.

We are bringing out the 256 MB Memory Unit for Christmas though. I have one right here and I?ve been amazed that no-one has written about it yet! It?s the same size as the 64 MB MU and I have one of the first in existence!

Hope they increase the Live Arcade size limit to suit this.

Woolworths (online) had the 360 hard drive's for ?35 yesterday (all gone and page taken down now), prehaps they had loads of excess stock ? bit strange.

I'd be surprised if it was out before Christmas since it hasn't even been announced. Could happen though because I suppose it doesn't take a huge amount of effort to drop a 256MB chip in there instead of a 64MB. It'd be nice if they left the price the same since you can buy a 2GB USB drive for the same price, making ?22.99 for a 64MB one particularly galling.

It's coming, though. Live Arcade games have to be able to fit onto the memory card and there's no way they're getting Symphony of the Night onto one of those no matter how good your compression technology is. That's due in early 2007.
