Contact PlayUSA.com and suggest they stock US games

    Hi,

I've received an email from Play.com which announces they are opening a new site called PlayUSA.com which will sell Region 1 DVDs. I guess they wanted to separate the two sides of their business to avoid problems with buyers who didn't know what the difference in the regions was.

Anyway, I think this gives them a great opportunity to start selling US games for Xbox, Gamecube and PS2. I have emailed this suggestion to them as it would be great to have another option (based close to the UK) for quick imports at a good price.

The email address I got from the website is [email protected] with the subject header as 'Suggestion'. If they get a few emails suggesting they stock US games they may look into it and start stocking them.

    Just a suggestion.

Seems like a good idea. I emailed them a while ago asking them the same thing. They told me they had no immediate plans to stock ntsc games. But with the new USA site, maybe it's something they're considering...

[email protected] seems to be bouncing emails so it may not be operational at the moment. I've sent an email to [email protected] instead.

I sent them an email last week suggesting this. They got back to me on Friday saying they currently had no plans to sell US games. Maybe if they get enough interest, who knows.

I'm like Wager and have already contacted Play over this but they say they have no current plans. However, like you all say, what harm can be done in sending another message from an alternative email address as they may just start stocking them.

Done and done. Who knows, maybe they'll give cheap games with much lower shipping times that DVDBO!

IF they ever do sell US games, I'd expect you to have to pay customs charges on them, since they ship from Belgium and they're smart enough to write the price on every package...

They ship PAL stuff from Jersey, not Belgium, IIRC. The US stuff they ship direct from the US or Canada.

I didn't think you had to pay import tax on packages sent from an EU country.

Are you sure? I always thought all their R1 DVD's were shipped from mainland Europe. Maybe i'm getting mixed-up with DVDBO.

I wish they sent them from Belgium as this is an EU country the import tax wouldn't apply. That's how DVD Box office get away with people not paying import tax on standard class delivery as they ship from Sweden. They will ship the games from the US, however there is a high chance you will get away with it as they would use standard airmail and there is simply no way the postal service could check every single package.
I have ordered numerous DVD's from play which have shipped from the US and never had a problem. Some of these have been boxsets which are of an equivilent value to a ?30-?40 game.
Also play have got away with its customers not paying VAT, because by rights, we should get charged VAT on our doorsteps whenever the postie delivers a regular package from play.com. And how many times has this happened?

Play.com does pass all its Region 1 DVD?s through Belgium, in my experience. All the envelopes have Belgian stamps on the labels when I get them.

However, that didn?t stop me from getting a ?10.50 customs charge on the ?40 Brazil boxset I ordered. According to the customs notice, it is their policy to charge on all goods valued over ?14 or something. Anyway, it annoyed me.
