**Sorted** Prob with PS2 modded with MXL2 chip.

I've got an old style silver PS2 modded with a MXL2 chip.

Not had a lot of use, but worked 100% when it was used....until recently

I'm assuming it's a problem with the chip, as it still plays my PAL games (inc the blue ones), and has lost the green fix.

Could the chip have 'died', or could it be a loose connection or something?

Will the chip be easy to find if I open the console up to have a look?

It's very rare that the machine will still work if one wire from the chip has come loose. You probably already know the operating instructions for the MXL2 but i've put them below anyway....Do you get the blue light at all??

If you're getting the blue light and the PS1 mode works etc then it's safe to say that one of the wires corresponding to the PS2 modes is loose.

BOOTING PS2 ORIGINALS, IMPORTS AND BACKUPS.
The loading sequence in unimportant. The machine will behave in the same way as if you are using an original game.




BOOTING PS1 ORIGINALS, BACKUPS AND DVD MOVIES.
With the PS2 on standby position (red light ON), press the reset button and keep pressed until the blue light turns on.
The MXL2 will stay in PS1/DVD movies mode until the PS2 is brought back in standby (red light ON).

Press Eject to open the disk tray.
Insert the PS1/DVD MOVIE into the disk tray and press RESET to close tray and start the game/movie.




PLAYING OUT OF REGION DVD MOVIES (NEEDS AR2/v2 or GS2/v2 or DVD region X).
Insert AR2/v2 or GS2/v2 or DVDRX into the disk tray and close the tray.
Keep the rest button pressed until the Blue Light turns on and than release to boot AR2/GS2/DVDRX.

At the menu select DVD MOVIE PLAYER and press X on the controller.
The disk tray will eject; remove AR2/GS2/DVDRX and put the out-of-region movie into the tray.

Press Eject to close the tray and wait for a few seconds.
When the browser appears, select the gold disk and press X to complete the boot.

DISABLING MXL2 (Stealth Mode).

With the PS2 on standby position (red light ON), press the reset button and keep pressed until the blue light turns ON.
Release reset button and press again within two seconds.

The MXL2 is now completely disabled and transparent to the system until the PS2 is brought back in standby (red light ON).

Recently put it on the lower shelf of one of those wall mounted tv stands.

The shelf tips the unit forward slightly, and if you level it the discs read perfectly....funny how it just wouldn't read the imports though???

Dont know about the online aspects of your question but i wouldnt reccomend gamesworldircet. Didnt even answer my pre purchase emails. I went with www.ghost2fitter.co.uk who were exellent all round when i bought a pre chipped ps2 from them recently.
