    LCD Monitor Problem

    Hi there,

I'm really hoping someone here can help me out and shed some light on this situation and perhaps lead me in the right direction!

I have a Packard Bell Pentium 4 Media Center PC that I got in July last year. It's been working pretty much fine and dandy up until a few days ago. It's the monitor i'm having a problem with you see. It started off (this particular problem has actually been a on going saga for a few months now) where the monitor would randomally swtich itself off every now and then for no apparent reason. That's been pretty annoying but i've been getting through it. The most recent problem though is when I turn the monitor on (Mainly during start-up on the computer) when whatever the screen is meant to display at due time it will come up for a spilt second and has this blurry effect and suddenly fades away really quickly leaving a black screen......I have to turn the power button on the monitor on and off a ridiculous amount of times (sometimes for 10 mins, sometimes half hour sometimes longer....yeah I know....pain in the BUTT!) before it returns to it's normal self and displays what its meant to be displaying......I hear this is a common problem with some LCD monitors....?? Problem is, i've cocked up on the insurance side of things (to be fair, they ie PC World are at fault for that too) and I really don't want to be forking out ?300+ for a replacement....

Any ideas/tips/advice on this matter would be much appreciated...

    Thanks..

It's a problem common to most defective monitors, CRT and LCD alike. Sooner or later the monitor will completely give up, ask for a replacement, repairing it will probably cost as much as a new monitor.

Thank you very much for the reply mate. Appreciate that.

"defective" is not exactly what I was hoping to hear. But atleast it saves me messing around with different leads and other countless ideas that have been passed onto me that just dont work...I now know I NEED a new monitor....ho hum...

Out of warranty already? Isn't it two years long?

          Hi again mate,

Apparently it was for only a year and I didn't renew it in time or something silly. They seem to be all very unhelpful over at PC World. (Well their service center anyway)

very rare for a monitor to have less than 3 year warranty m8
