    Game Station & Refunds

When did GS stop doing refunds for unwanted games? I bought a DS game on Friday & took it back yesterday unused (it was bought on a whim) and asked for a refund. I was told all they could offer me was a credit note or a replacement. I questioned it twice, but was in a hurry to get to work & didn't take it further & took a credit note. I'm pretty sure they have signs on the counter (possibly old) saying you can bring back for a full refund within 7 days?
Anyone who works in GS care to shed some light? Coventry store btw.

I dunno about the 7 days return thing but I`ve bought games from the GS in Manchester a few times. When I wanted to return them I just gave a sob story that it was my birthday and someone already got it me, they refunded everytime.

I did that with CoD2 (PC) to get a CD key, sorted!

Nice, so you essentially stole it for the next person to come along and buy it...

Sorry to drag up an old thread, but there is a sign on the counter that says that gamestation will swap unwanted games within 7 days (at staffs discretion), but refunds are only for faulty goods.

        Hope this helps.

Since you put it that way I guess the answer is yes..... but then again that person would return the game and pass the loss back onto a multi million company who I`m sure can absorb the cost, especially as I`ve lost count of the amount of times I`ve bought a full price game from GameStation, finished it a day or two later and then got shafted with a ?15 trade in after originally paying ?35.

Quick NekoFever, I think I see an old lady that needs help crossing the road!

Thanks for the heads up on that fella. I am a regular in my local GameStation and I buy alot of games, but on loads of occasions I`ve bought a game, finished it and brought it back, the fella at the shop comments on the fact that I`ve only had the game a day or two and then promptly gives me a ****ty trade in price for it rather than proactively inform me that I can have a full price credit note.

Nah, all that'd happen is if Nembot played the game online at the same time as whoever ended up with the game after him, he would have to find another CD Key as the other guy would have the physical game and most likely receipt to prove ownership. Hardly something worth bragging about though. You "screwed the system" well done.

Yes I did and thank you!

Nah, I wasn`t bragging, I was just pointing out that GameStation will accept returns but at their own disgression which at times unfortunately will involve having to spin them a bit of a yarn, so I gave an example.

Anyways, I have a question. Do GameStation have a price matching scheme?

I`ve bought a fair few 360 games from them at ?50 but realised recently that there is a local Tesco knocking them out at ?40. Will they refund me a tenner on say PES6 for example if I kept the reciept?

I Dont think so - they do however pride themself on giving the best rates for 2nd hand games

                  Cheers Buster!

Do you think they`d sell a game for ?40 if it was sold locally for that price, rather than refund a tenner on a game that I`d already bought?

If not I`ll start to buy my games elsewhere and trade them at GS.

you really have 1 brass neck, presonally i couldnt do it

i dont think they price match either, maybe Game but nobody else

i think the customer base there is mainly because of the nice trade in prices so people dont mind paying the prices as they know they will get a decent amount back

plus the stores generally dont stick of piss and they know a little about games

internet shopping is where its at </bo>

Gamestation offer exchange or credit within 7 days of purchase if returned with the receipt in an "as bought" condition.

And, yes, we do price match provided the other retailer has the item in stock.
