    What a Bargain! *Sigh*

So, i wanted to play okami and sold my ps2 and made attempts to get another.

One came up on yes ebay,(ntsc unit) i got it for 62 pounds plus postage, which was good because it came with 11 games, 2 steering wheels and two wireless control pads, because i'm short of money i thought i could sell some of this to help pay for it, btw the seller didn't even bother putting in the wireless control pads.

Get it out the box, not mint, well used, all i asked for is if it works, first game i put in works, *sigh of relief* it must be fine, second game don't, it soon enough comes to my attention that is plays blue discs only which i'm sure everyone has heard off.

I've e-mailed the seller, i don't hold out much hope, just because of the fact he must of knowingly sold it faulty plus the no wireless control pads.

I guess i feel bad, i've been broke for six weeks being as i bought a telly, and i spent all my cash buying this so i could play okami, which isn't going to happen.

Well i posted here incase there is a simple way to correct this, the disc read, or shall i just cut my loses and weep as i'm pretty sure i'm not going to get a refund, he didn't even put in the joypads, what a piss take.

Anyone help, its ok, i'm not looking for sympathy, if you knew how much i wanted to play okami though you'd give it me! Sorry for little rant.

Contact paypal and say the seller has sold you a steaming pile of crap, raise a dispute it is sure to settle in your favour!

Assuming you paid using Paypal, they should be able to claim back you money after ten working days from them first contacting the seller.

Ignore what I just posted above, sorry.

Not sure what to suggest other than what you have done and contact the seller, likely they'll just try deny any problems.

Hopefully some kind soul on here can get suggest how to get it working.

It really is annoying that people get away with this, is there any hope that Ebay could intervene if you contact them, even if it's a token response from them.

I hope you get it sorted.

If you paid by cheque, it is still possible to cancel the cheque even after it has cleared

                Ehmm,me thinks it's fixable.

First try out if nothing else works: audio CD, PS1 game, blue PS2 CD-ROM (works?), DVD-video, PS2 DVD-ROM. If only PS1, audio CD & CD-ROM work, you're one step closer to knowing the truth.

Ever opened up a PS2? If not, be carefull with the paper ribbon on the inside!

The drive unit looks like this: it should have a white cog for the levelling of the lens at the back (maybe two for more recent models) and a little screw next to the lens itself.
Try to adjust the screw little by little (1/4 turns, the screw lifts the unit), and each time you've altered the height, try it out with anything that wouldn't read in the beginning.
But be carefull: use a cd that's expendable, because if you lift it too much, the cd will touch the unit and that'll make some nice etch-a-sketch!

The white cog does somewhat the same. (mark it with a pen before adjusting)

                Hope this helps a bit.

I'm selling it now, i'm cutting my loses or i might even break even. Its for sale in the trading section.

I paid via BT and that is non retractable as they always say that when you use it!

Anyway, i don't want loads of hassle with the seller, i have had experiences before i'd rather forget, so its for sale now.

Thanks for all help in this thread, it isn't as bad as i thought, if i can sell a bit i'll be ok, i'll play okami next year on my brothers PAL, i waited this long, i can wait a bit longer. Thanks again though. appreciated.

Thanks Shin, i appreciate your time with that reply, but i'm just going to sell it as faulty, although that advice might help a buyer, people do still buy faulty ps2's right!
