GC memory card - US/PAL saves compatible?

Just got the message telling me I need to format my memory card when booting up my cube. Now I know your not supposed to have Pal and Jap saves on the one memory card, but on this I only have US and Pal saves which I thought was supposed to be ok, right? I've had both Pal and US saves on this card for a while and its never caused any problems.

Any ideas as to what it might be? Is this nothing to do with what region saves I have on there?

Bit anxious, I don't want to lose all those saves.

US and PAL will work fine. It's just between Japanese and English language games that it needs to format.

Thought so. Must just be a rubbish third party card then. I'll be sticking to official from now on, guess you have to learn the hard way.

I think we have all learned the hard way when it comes to crappy third party memory cards.

It's best to keep them separate, especially with 3rd party cards, but I have PAL, US and JPN saves all mixed on my official 251 memory card and have have no troubles loading/saving (though in truth, there is only 1 PAL Chibi Robo save on there because I'd ran out of space on my "PAL" memory card).

There are some games, however, that require a properly formatted card to save JPN games (Mr Driller, Donkey Konga and Radirgy spring to mind - there are others), so I think it's often to do with the game in question, rather than the manufacturer of the memory card.
