Xbox Live Vision camera on Windows XP PC - driver needed!?

the title very much says it all. i just can't get a driver installed. if there is any at all (the manual says there is one needed and available though!)

well, the cam gets recognized as USB video-something but the automated driver installation fails. both Skype and Yahoo messenger refuse to work with the cam! Microsoft ****ed it up again, lazy bastards!

who knows about this problem and solved it already? can't i just get a generic usb webcam driver somewhere and install it instead? i mean to just get my software running!?

I had this, make sure the camera is plugged in and run windows update.
I did have to uninstall it several times from the device manager though.
For some reason I could install it really easily when I logged into my girlfriends profile on XP.

Maybe you could try that or create one, install it then delete the profile.

I take you havea a legitimate version of windows?

      *edit*

Don't know if this will help but I've rounded up a couple of the important drivers that it uses and uploaded them to here

try using them and see if that helps

        thanks to both of you!

problem is the driver the wizard is looking for ("security version ...") seems not available for me. the cam get recognized as generic USB video device and i can double click it to get a micro video stream (100x100 at best) without any option to change resolution or something else. but the cam simply doesn't work with skype ("did not find prefered video source") or yahoo messenger (black screen).
