Make your own component cable for wii?

Hi I am wondering if it's possible to make your own component cable for Wii. It seems that I wont be able to get hold of one until december anyway and I got a HDTV and an american Wii with Zelda shipping at launch.

so what if you took an existant component cable and modified it for wii. would that work in theory?

so let's say I buy this regular component cable

and then modify it with a Wii composite cable

    It's unlikely that would work.

I was thinking this about my cube component cable but with those in slightly short supply I am reluctant to open the bad boy up for fiddling.

Just wait until Dec 12th when it component cable will be sold in the UK. You're just going to end up with 2 messed up cables and not be able to play the Wii at all for 3 weeks!

Where's your audio going to come from?

The GC component cable contains a DAC to convert from digital, which the GC outputs to analogue component. This is the reason for the highish price. Has there been any mention of whether the Wii AV port will be digital only or natively outut component?

the Wii component cable doesn't have that the DAC chip in it.

Exactly, the Wii one has just 1 multi out which does all the video modes.

Hopefully someone will dissect it and get a pinout very quickly.

Just hope that the connector is easy enough to dismantle

so this is possible to do? I know a store who does modification with all sorts of electronics.

Yeah it should be possible but like I said it all comes down to how quickly someone gets hold of a standard component lead and sees which pins the wires are attached too.
