    Modded PS2 questions

Hiya there, after finding out some inadequecies about the old swap magic malarkey, im looking to buy a modded PS2.

A couple of questions that I hope to get answered first though!

    1) I'd preferiably like a slimline model, would this be pushing up the price much?

    2) I dont want to have to bother with loads of effort to load a game, just wanna put the disc in, whether it be PAL, US or JAP, and for it to just work. Is that standard?

    3) How much would I be looking at paying?

Thanks again guys! As usual your help is VERY much appreciated!

    1) dont think anyone does new 'fat' modded ps2's so it'll be a slimline anyway.
    2) get a 'matrix infinity' modded ps2, they play anything you put in 'em without any fiddiling.
    3) try here www.ghost2fitter.co.uk got mine there, exellent service and price.

      Hmm, that helps alot- thanks!

I'm thinking that may be a last resort though, ?160 inc delivery is more than i'd care to pay. What about forum prices? Ive seen them go for ?100 ish quite regularly- that seems a fairer price. They crop up often?

Personally I'd pay the extra and go new. If you're after a Slimline it might be worthwhile knowing that the first lot (v12 and v13) slimlines suffer badly with the coil's burning out on the laser making it not read DVD's.......and modded ones only highten this.

Pay the extra and get a V14 or V15, it'l be worth it in the end.

I'm kinda tempted by a PS2 - is a modded UK console as good as an imported US one? Apart from the obvious of playing UK games, that is - assume that only US games will be played. Are there any differences over video outputs &c?

yes a uk modded one is better as it will play all games and also play any region dvds as it has a bigger frame buffer

video output should be the same as you will have option of rgb or component video

After struggling to keep my old style 'fat' modded PS2 going I'm thinking of giving up and simply going for a new one.

However, I've avoided this so far as I heard the slimline PS2s have some incompatibility with some software (Initial D: Special Stage was the big one for me, but there were others). Is this still the case with the latest slimline consoles or has it been resolved?
