Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360 Dilemma

I have a difficullt choice to make which is -

Use my ?220 or so game vouchers to pick up my preordered Wii + one game and a component cable and enjoy.

    Or

Use the vouchers to have some quality 360 gaming this coming winter including Call Of Duty 3, Gears of War and I was thinking of picking up the wireless adaptor and maybe the new wireless headset which I understand is coming out.

I'm so confused, I guess the main problem is if I get the wii I will only have one game to play on it but if I plump for the 360 games I can probably pick up 2-3 games and still get the extras listed above.

    What would you do ?

Get the Wii + Zelda TP. You'll have a much better experience than buying Gamecube Twilight princess (that is if they even release it!) That is going to be an epic game. You can always pick the 360 stuff up cheaper later, they might even be region free so you can import for cheap. Imagine the fun of getting your hands on brand new gaming technology, opening that box on the day of launch. Wii sports is also sure to be a riot, for me this makes the Wii the superior buy rather than a handful of 360 games which to be honest are not all that inspiring.

Personally I'd go for the 360 - I'm a big Nintendo fan, but there's nothing tempting me to buy a Wii right now. Its only real launch title is a Gamecube game, and I still have mine.

Maybe once Mario and Metroid are out I'll think about picking one up, but I'm not so sure. There's plenty of good stuff out on the 360 now though.

I agree with Andrew. I have the same dilemma and tbh it's an easy choice for me. One option is to buy a Wii, Zelda, and a set of component cables. My other choice is to spend that money on games. For that money I could afford to buy:

        Gears Of War
        Tony Hawk's Project 8
        Guitar Hero 2 PS2
        Yoshi's Island 2 (DS)
        Zelda: Twilight Princess (GC)

Plus have money left over for a few expensive nights out with mates. Yeah, it's a really tough choice...

I'll get a Wii eventually but it doesn't make any sense to buy one at launch, IMO. The lineup is dreadful and I think Mario is the first essential game. If that was a launch game I might have bought one

          360 games mate

More games for the money, obviously! I'm waiting on the Wii until I've played one and made sure it's not a 5 minute flash in the pan type of thing. I figure the Wii would only come out for "party games" when my mates are round, and by the time I'd have bought the console, the 3 extra pads and nunchukas, and a few party games - well that's a LOT of 360 goodness right there.

I'd say go for the Wii, get a 360 later (maybe when they've updated the chipset next year?). The Wii just seems like a great christmas console and TP looks better than anything on the 360. Quality over quantity.

Maybe your expectations are a bit too high, or you've just never experienced a bad launch line-up as the Wii's is far from dreadful.

He's already got a 360 - that's why it's a dilemma. If the question was "which console + 1 game do I buy" then the answer would be a no-brainer, but since the OP already has the 360 he can spend the whole cost of the Wii on 360 games, instead.

Whichever choice Cat makes, the alternative will still be there - falling in price in the meantime & available on the 2nd-hand market - so I think that rephrasing the question might help. Assuming Cat will definitely get a Wii or the 360 games at some point in the future, the question is "will Wii sports & one other game fill all Cat's playing desires until he has more cash to buy more games in the springtime".

I'll disagree with the comments that Zelda:TP is a "gamecube game" - its release on the Wii has been planned for quite a long time and it surely has a lot of development on the new platform. On one of the 1up shows they played Zelda on the Wii & the controls were obviously very natural to play with.

Regarding other aspects of the controller, the comparisons between the different platforms of Call Of Duty 3 make worthwhile reading. Sure, the Wii version is out if online play is important to you, but it sounds to me like the Wii's control mechanism makes for some really fun play - I can see myself really ducking & diving like an idiot whilst playing that one.

I'm getting the Wii. It's absolutely a no-brainer for me that I want this console - I've been anticipating it all summer, it looks SO much fun, and also I have the whole pre-order, will-I-get-it-at-launch excitement going. But then I can afford to get Zelda, Red Steel & COD3 at launch; I'm pretty sure that Ninty are getting online play nailed down for the released of Metroid. But if the expense of the console was going to limit my gaming then I can see that it might not be such an easy decision.

              Stroller.

Why has no one suggested selling the 360 to buy a Wii + loads of games! hehe

Buy Wii and few games, then trade in games for XBOX 360 games.

I was just about to say "Sell me your 360 and buy a Wii so I can play Gears of War next month"
