    Gamecube's Component signal squashed

Was there ever a reason given for this? I always found on my 42" Panasonic W5 that the image was stighly too short, and not wide enough to fill the screen, and I usually adjusted the settings on the TV to stretch it out.

Just dug it out and hooked it up to my new PJTX100 projector, and it's the same story. Was there ever a reason given for why the picture was squashed?

Most projectors and definitely on the 42" panny PW5 there is no overscan on the RGBHV/YUV inputs, where as on the RGB Scart, composite and S-Video there is nearly 10% so it fills the whole screen.

Ah, so it was a case of squishing it a bit, so that CRT's would pull it out a bit, overscanning the black bits and fill the screen?

Yeah it is just a case of there being zero overscan on computer inputs, plus alot of the time consoles will only fill say 640x480 instead of the whole 720x480, and if you have no over scan this puts biggish borders down the sides.
