n00bish question on Xbox 360 and letterboxing

Right, I'm late to the party - just dropped ?280 on a 360 with GRAW and I'm having the letterbox problem, since I'm playing on the same 17" 4:3 CRT I've had for years.

What I want to know is, if I buy a 16:9 TV and set the aspect ratio to widescreen through the dashboard, will I get a full-screen picture even if it's a standard, non-HD set? A bog-standard widescreen CRT is a LOT cheaper than a HD-ready plasma...

Yup, as long as you set the 360 to widescreen, you'll get a proper full screen image on a 16:9 telly whether it's HD or SD, or whether it's a CRT, Plasma, LCD, or whatever.

I ran my 360 on a 16:9 CRT (before upgrading to an HD set later on) and got a full screen picture with no problems.
