There probably isnt but just out of curiosity how much did you pay for the machine??

I'm guessing that at about ?280 (Including shipping) then that figure is just VAT (about ?49) plus DHL's handling fee (an obscene ?20+!!!!) so that will probably be right & very little we can do to contest it.

See if you can get a copy of the entry they completed though as it would be interesting to see how they did enter it in the end & may give us some idea how they declare them for future purchases

Think i have the entry at home so ill have a butchers when i get in. I have now got a letter saying it's going to some debt collecting ****ers. Was kinda hoping it would just go away,,and was about to pay it when i just noticed this thread.

Forget how much it was,but think it was around ?400 as i had to buy it as a bundle with 2 games and an extra wireless controller.

Anyone else remember,Spatial etc...

You paid ?400 bang on as that equates to exactly ?70 VAT so I would say that you got away ok there & they actually did the entry properly under the Video Games heading as they havent figured anything in there at all for Duty.

I'd just pay it & get them off your back, not worth the hassle of a debt collection mob.

DHL have already paid HMCE the duty and vat. They quite rightly would like it back. The addition of the 'collection fee' is another matter though.

There's no sure way of avoiding duty, HMCE can open and inspect parcels if they suspect it to be undervalued. It seems they don't very often, but it can happen.

Nick... you had to wait a whole year before DHL started hasseling you for import tax?!? That's pretty crazy. I thought they usually waited about a month or so.
