(only got dial up web connection - is this a problem for registering?)

I'm going to buy it today, so I hope it does!
Answered my own question here - it plays OK. I have all effects on at 1024 x 768 resolution. Only have vsync, AA and AF turned off. Frame rate is not bad, gets a bit worse when busy on screen, but it's all very playable!

This is great news, as Half Life 2 was the main reason that I tried to spec-up this low end machine in the first place.

I just hope that Episode 1 plays OK too.

I very much doubt that a 6200 can play episode one with good seetings as you call them, I would advise you turn down the settings too on Half Life.

I hear ya there Mofoman , but I as I keep mentioning it was the best card I could find to fit my thin machine - unless you could suggest a more powerfull alternative?

I assume I've got no chance of running FarCry with my settings:

          P4 2.8 ghz
          1024 RAM
          XFX 256 mb Geforce 6200

          Both fingers crossed here

As you say with a halfheight card you don't really have any choice - I think Episode One would be ok, the main difference in terms of graphics performance is HDR which you wouldn't have enabled anyway.

There's a Far Cry demo, I'd download that if possible and give it a go performance wise - it's going to struggle but I'd think you could get it running at adequate settings.

Far cry runs fine on my PC. Similar to yours but with a older 9800XT.

It looks like this on mine with most settings on max @1024x768.

Download the demo and turn down alot of the settings my man, and it should run no problems, you may get a bit of stuttering here and there especially when things get busy but it definetly will run.
