Playstation (one) laser replacement/skipping music problem.

Just got my PS out of storage - it's the original large 550x model - had very minor use and immaculate as an immaculate thing - always looked after very carefully.

But, the blooming thing is skipping on the music on RR4 - most other discs seem fine. RR4 disc itself looks fine, tiny light marks nothing else on there.

Most FAQ's say the 550x PS is trouble free, I did try the adjustment on the laser potentiometer -

Any other thoughts - I could just replace the whole laser unit but it's hard to believe it is knackered...?!

If so, are third party ones like this below problem free?

try using it on its side (diagonal) or upside down. (no joke)

I remembered that old trick but it didn't really do anything - this is why I am not sure there is anything wrong with the laser unit, confusing really - it has only skipped on two games but just the music.

Try Tekken 3 if you have it, see what that does.

Hi Joe, don't have it! Any more thoughts? - for the sake of ?13 I may as well replace the laser unit, they seem so cheap but then I guess the original Sony ones were too?
