    HK PS3 to be 220v?

I'm thinking of waiting for a HK PS3 now, even though my JPN one is ready to be collected. I still don't have a suitable stepdown (to my knowledge, as I'm unsure whether it's 300w or 500w that is needed), and I really don't want to get it all home to find out that I cannot play it. HK, is basically JPN but with UK PSU right?

    Ta.

There are pictures going around that show the Jap psu to be 100v-240v if that helps, but I'm not sure if anyone has tried it yet.

Some eBay sellers seem to be saying the same thing. Is the power cable just an '8' lead?

        I believe it's a kettle/PC type lead but I may be wrong.

can someone confirm if the JPN PS3 comes with a 110-240v transformer? I have one on its way and need to know if I need a big beefy stepdown or not.

It says 100-240V on the back, so you are in luck.

I fully intend to. If it blows, I shall take it back demanding a replacement saying the stepdown wasn't suitable! I'm not filming it though, as I do not want noteriety as being "that guy".

Though just to temper this, a mate of mine who got a Japanese PS3 this weekend says it only states 100V on his machine. The debug model in his office however is multi voltage. So no clue here for sure...

Get some electrician to test the console output via whatever and use a meter to measure the output for PS3. Then you can have a better idea whether it is safe enough.

I guess it might be safe enough to plug it in to PAL power supply if you set it to 220V but I can't promise you it will not go bang
