Faulty Xbox 360 - Returning to Microsoft

I've just spent 2 days at the mercy of Microsoft's 360 hotline and they've decided that our 360 is borked. They asked if I had an E Mail address, which I gave, and all to do was to wait for a parcel to arrive so I could send off the 360.

However they have just sent me an E Mail with a shipping label and receipt with details of how to drop off my shipment. What?

When my original Xbox messed up Microsoft sent me a box to parcel it up and then I phoned them to collect it. It now appears I have to do the legwork.

Does anyone know or have experiance of returning a 360? Because according to this E Mail I have to drive to a depot in London to "drop" it off!

I had this when my second unit was borked. All you do though, is print the label, call UPS (Think it was them, the phone # was on the page with the label) Box it up (you're self now, cheaaaap) & off it goes, same day if you call them in time. I was glad I kept the coffin they sent that machine back with, made packing it up easy.

If you bought it from the High Street, take it back to the shop for a brand new replacement if you don't wanna risk getting a grubby refurb by dealing directly with Microsoft.

We got it at Game about 3 months ago, would Game try to pull a fast one on me by saying it's Microsoft's responsability?

I cant be bothered by all this fussing about when we spent over ?300 on something that should work. Could I just take it back?

There have been a fair number of Ntsc-uk members who have taken their faulty Xbox 360s back to GAME for a brand new replacement, so I don't see why not.

As far as the law goes, you bought it from Game. It's their responsibility to ensure good are fit for the purpose. That said, they seem to have been quite good at exchanging the 1 or 2 they've had returned.

Game have been superb for me. I returned four 360's in the first six months of the one year warranty and each time was given a brand new unit no questions asked.

Take it back to Game rather than send it to Microsoft.

To echo what others have said, I took mine back to GAME and had a replacement within minutes.

I''ve just returned mine to MS.

I didn't buy it, i got given it from my cousin already broken and he couldn't find the receipt. Instead of getting it replaced himself he just bought a new one . It was a premium machine as well, so i get the nice chrome effect disk drive rather than the white one.

After putting up with the horrendous support line i got sent an email with a ups address note on it. Stuck it on the parcel and phone ups up. They collected it the same day i rung up

Thanks for all your help everyone.

I'll be returning the 360 after work and hopefully they'll be civil about it!
