    using GC transformer

    Hello can anyone confirm that I can use my import GC tranformer with imported wii's?

    It's very likely. No promises yet until we know the power consumption.

    Nintendo said themselves on the things they handed out at the Wii event here in Glasgow that the console is designed to be low on power, so I doubt it will consume more than the GameCube.

      I am hoping to use my 100W Stepdown transformer. As soon someone knows the firm details please post here as I can't risk frying my beloved Wii when it arrives.

      The cube could have used as low a stepdown as 45W right?

        I use my old 50W Saturn stepdown no probs with my Cube (39W) and DC (22W).

          Well, I plan to use the 100w Stepdown I use for my HD DVD player on the Wii. That should be OK I assume...

            So, with the Wii needing 53W, it looks like I'll need a new stepdown, to be safe (my current one is 50W).

            Anybody know of any places on the highstreet that sell these? Don't really want to mail order one and find myself with a Wii and nothing to plug it into. I guess Maplin is probably the best bet?

              Yup I think Maplin is the way to go.

                This should do the job, right?

                  Yes it will mate, I'm pretty disappointed to see it at that price, seeing as I bought the same model from Maplin at ?4.99 during a sale (regular price was ?9.99).

                  If you try ebay you can find something much more reasonable.

                  E.g. this one, which appears to be the same as the one Maplin are selling.
                  There are also some cheaper ones on ebay.

                      So will a 105V 600mA transformer do...?

                        Power = Voltage x Current = 105 x 0.6 = 63W

                        Therefore that should be okay.

                            Stepdown would just burn out.
