    Xbox 360 update

Hi, Im unable to hook my 360 up online until I get the wireless adapter, until then is there a way to update my 360 with the latest update by downloading, burning it and then install it on my 360 VIA a CDR?

    I wouldn't have thought there's any way that'd be possible ?

I know it's possible to get back-compat updates through cd-r - so dash updates that way is not inconceivable.

I might be wrong, but I have a feeling the official Xbox mag does updates through it's free DVD.

Take it to a mates and plug in the ethernet, or just take it to your router for the time it takes to update.

Update should come with any games that need it though.

Check to see if the media section (I think) now has a video marketplace listed. If so it's updated.

Nah, it doesnt, in fact it doesn have any Media centre stuff and I think the update changes the whole look of the live section as well so it cant be.

Does anyone know what game requires the update? Maybe I can borrow one off a mate.

              Cheers

The games themselves do not need updates to play, 360 that is, they do need updates to play them on Live and those are only for those games and not the dash.

These are things like patches and stuff, it wouldn't be fair for people to play with differently patched games on Live.

The only way to get updates for the dash is to connect to Live, as far as I am aware. I'm sure it can't be done via disk and can't think of any other way.

Why do you need to wait for the Wireless Adapter? Is there no way you can plug it into the WAP directly?

Because my BB is in my room on the 2nd floor loft extension and my TV is downstairs. I have no display I can set it up on, therefore I need to wait until I raise some cash to buy a wireless adapter.

Without Live running there's not too much use for the update anyway, unless you have a 1080p TV and the HD DVD addon.

The update is pretty much only of use if you're connected to Live. If you really want your dash updating perhaps you could borrow a portable TV?

I've atually heard the update improves the look of everything. I suppose I can wait then.

If the reviews are anything to go by the HD DVD comes with the latest dash on disc, along with an additional update that adds that weird Pokeball thing to the disc tray icon so you can select the DVD or HD DVD drives. So anyone buying that should get the latest dash anyway.
