Stepdown Power Q

I have a 300W and 500W stepdown here. Did intend to use the 300W one for Wii, 500w for PS3, but we now know the PS3 won't need one.

Now... which should I use for Wii? I know it won't matter as such, but does the 500W one always drain 500w from the plug when it's on? Or does it only draw what's needed? (i.e 58w)

The stepdown should only draw the amount of power needed for the Wii.

Cool. I've actually decided to stick to the 300w once, since the 500w one is louder and is a bit of a magnet.
