Wii Launched today in Italy?

Just spoken to someone who said they saw a line queiing up for the wii today in Rome, can anyone confirm that they were actually for sale or was it just a tour?

The Wii will launch December 7 in Italy, as the 8th is national holiday. At least, that's what the Activision PR told me yesterday. A local supermarket advertises that they will have Wiis starting from the 9th, but I guess everything will go on sale the 7th.

I can confirm to all the Ntsc-UK forum that the Wii will not be on the shelves until 8 december 2k6 here in Italy
Did not heard of anything about the Wii sold in rome.
they are eventually taking pre orders.
i know for sure on December 6th there will be a pre launch event.
but, since I'm from Milan I'll do some investigation for ya all.
from my city there are no sign yet of Wi consoles.
except for great shops adv.

December 7th is a bank holiday for Milan's patron Saint, but as we are getting closer to Christmas major shopping centers will remain open.

December 8th is a bank holiday for the Immaculate Conception, but shops will remain open for the same reason.

so Wii will hit Italian market on 8th of December

I got some news
The Wii will be presented and sold for a limited number of people on the midnight between the 6th of December and the 7th of December.
from the midnight the stores will be opened for selling the console to everyone.
the same will happen in other italian cities.
