Wii Drive light

Probably a daft question, but is the blue light inside the Wii's disk drive supposed to do anything other than flash briefly as the unit is switched on? I assumed it would stay on all the time, but mine switches off straight away.

It will also flash when you got message or WiiConnect24 has downloaded something.

The flashing when you get a message is a nice little feature.

But I defy anyone not to be a little freaked the first time it's on standby and they suddenly notice it blinking at them out of the corner of their eye
