Scart Help needed. Can I cut this wire?

I have a PC Engine scart lead that is bent and doesn't fit into the socket very well so I need to find out if I can cut a black wire that is soldered to the outer metal bit so I can change the part that is bent.

So is it safe to cut without it affecting the picture or sound?

    Thanks.

This is the ground wire. Shouldn't be a problem, I've tried connecting on a Q-cable, but the result for me was the same, with or without the ground wire.
If there's a big noticeable difference in the picture( static), just reconnect it.(you can always connect it anywhere else on the scartshielding, doesn't need to be on that exact spot).

Yeah the ground wire is kinda important to protect against interference, thats the whole point of having a shielded cable, cut it, strip it back a bit, and wrap it around the hole in the new metal part, and solder.
