Software for streaming audio/video to Xbox 360 from Linux

I'm thinking of installing Linux on my laptop (no proper reason really, just for fun and to try something new ) but have a quick question that I'm hoping someone can answer.

I currently stream MP3 and video files from my laptop to my Xbox 360 using Windows Media Connect. Quite simply, is there an equivalent program for Linux that will let me stream media files to my 360?

I found a program called TwonkyMedia which looks like it would do the trick, but it's commercial software and has a yearly subscription fee. Is there anything similar around that could do the job for free? Cheers.

    Does VLC work with 360?
That is available on all platforms.
