One thing to consider though it doesn't really count for much these days - GoW is an 18 certificate game and a new franchise.

I don't know what an average sales figure for a Zelda is but the uptake is presently almost 1:1 on the Wii and everybody knows it's probably the best thing on it at present. Conversely, the 360 has a great, varied software library now so people picking one up could easily opt for GRAW and PGR3 over newer stuff like Gears (they'd probably get those 2 for the same price).

Still haven't answered your question - I honestly don't know but I think for now I'd say Zelda.

Well I intend to buy both but in total sales I'd say probably Gears of War.

Been out longer & currently has a bigger user base.

Also I'm not convinced that everyone who buys a Wii will actually want Zelda...my brother & some of his friends dont for a start, I can see Wii Play being a huge seller personally for the Wii, Zelda will sell by the bucket load but I just dont think it will pip GoW.

well seeing how zelda will prob sell 1 in every 2 systems and more...nintendo have promised 4mil wii's by xmas so id say around 2-2.5 mil worldwide for zelda?

GOW has sold just over 1 mil already

though if you add GC sales too i rekon easily zelda

Yeah, I'd have to agree with Geezer....Gears will (comfortably imo) outsell Zelda TP this year but in the long run Zelda will probably sell more copies.

Difficult one, i'd say most wii owners will get Zelda so at xmas that could be 5-600000.

Would gears shift as many? Its popular but with so much choice would it be the one.

I would have to say that i think Zelda will probably come out on top as it is the must own title on the Wii and probably the one title that people are buying the Wii for, i've heard that between 1 in every 2 Wii's sold will be sold with a copy of Zelda.

Where as the 360 has still not got a big following in Japan so game numbers are going to be way down over there.

Will be close though as Gears has a head start.

Gears has already faltered from top spot on the UK charts, I wouldn't put so much faith in it beating Zelda. It really isn't anywhere near as accessible, and probably won't sell very well in Japan, while Zelda has a much more universal appeal in my opinion.

I'd be comfortable in predicting Zelda not just doing better overall, but even selling more copies than Gears before Christmas.

zelda definitly,especialy when you consider about 70 percent of wii owners are purchasing zelda and nintendo are on target to ship 4 million wiis by the end of the year,not only that but the gamecube version will be coming out too.

Nintendo reckon they'll shift 4 million Wiis this year, which they are on target to do, and the attach rate for Zelda in some places like Canada was almost 1 for 1, so I'd say Zelda.

GoW is a smashing game but somehow I can't see people buying it for Little Johnny to open on Crimbo Day and chainsaw the ****e out of people with Granny watching after dinner.
