Importing 360 - Pros and Cons

Hey all - with the great exchange rate & some great games, now is the time for me to finally pick up a 360.

The question is, which do I go for - US, JAP or UK.

Some of the cons for importing:

    warranty
    customs
    new PSU needed

    Some of the pros:

    cheaper
    ??
    ??

What are the compelling reasons I should choose a US or JAP over a UK machine.

    Thanks all.

There's actually not a huge amount of reason to go import with the 360, because Microsoft are very good with release dates, and most third parties seem to be following suit. I think the worst culprit so far was the 1 month delay with PAL Dead Rising, hardly a biggie.
Also, the 360 supports region free, and most major games are region free, so you can still run most imports on a UK 360 (you can generally tell by publisher... all Sega, Activision and newer Microsoft games are region free, for example).

Some may want a JPN 360 for the cheaper Asian releases, and various JPN exclusives like Senko no Ronde and Idolm@ster though.

I think Shakey hit the nail on the head there, there is little point of importing a machine unless there are specific japanese games you want to play. There is little to no point importing a US machine

Possibly a bit late as you seem to have already made your mind up Finsbury Girl, but this time last year almost I was doing exactly what you did I couldn't decide what version of the machine to get, and was deciding between a US or UK machine.

In the end I went with a UK machine (it was an xmas present actually) and I really haven't regretted it one little bit!

All the games run as they should in the US (Full screen full speed etc) and the release dates are very close, never much of a wait with the release of things, and if you are on the ball you can get your pre orders in on region free stuff over at Play-Asia and get great new titles for ?25 or so.

Not forgetting its great to be able to pick up new games on the high street, and the chance to get things in sales and that

All in all I think a UK 360 is a great way to go.

Not forgetting if it goes wrong, it's so much easier to have got it here

If you look around the high street there are some really good Premium Pack bundles at the moment too. They might cost a bit more than RRP, but you get a lot for the money.
