    Which 360 Monitor

    Hello there.

    Could somebody please advise me?

I need to get a flat screen monitor for my PC. Widescreen, minimum 19", maximum cost ?200.

I'd also very much like to use it for HD Xbox 360 gaming, so it needs the right inputs. Do any of them have component in put or do I need to get a special 360 VGA lead of some kind?

One last thing, it really has to be from PC World (don't ask): http://www.pcworld.co.uk

    Thanks everso much!

PC World have a 19" widescreen for ?109.99 at the moment, lead wise, just buy a 360 VGA lead, and a switchbox (to save you keep swapping leads) for ?15 and you'll be sorted.

Thanks man. Is that good quality or is it worth paying a bit more for a 'name' brand in your opinion?

I bought an Aria one (19" WS) from Argos for ?140 couple of months back and quality is top notch, time old story, get what you can afford.
At end of the day if your not happy with it, return it.

I'm not Mr Technical sure someone will be able to come up with a top spec one for bit more money.

          Cheers dude.

The only consideration I've just had is that my 5.1 set-up has completely the wrong facing for where my PC monitor goes, and I'd still want the 5.1 rigged for movies and all my other consoles which would still go through my 32" CRT.
Sadly I can't afford a big HD set at the moment, and I was going to wait for 1080p to become properly affordable anyway.

          Ooh it's a quandary!

I don't think the ?109 19" widescreen (AOC brand) does DVI input. IMO it's a bit short-sighted buying a TFT without, as VGA is slightly lossy.

There was some discussion over in "Post Your Gaming Setups" about a 20" monitor for ?199 that not only does DVI but also HDCP, which is really pretty sweet. I think that's this Samsung but I'm not absolutely sure.

For ?160 this Packard Bell states "Digital and Analogue Imaging", which presumably indicates DVI.

            Stroller.

To be honest I don't really know my VGA from my component from my HDMI from my DVI from HDCP. It sounds a bit of a minefield.

I still only know about composite, S-VHS and RGB...

I think the Samsung you're thinking of is the SM940MW

I got an Acer AL1916W (19inch Widescreen), excellent bargain, works wonders for the 360, only costs ~?135, has VGA input.

I only wish it had two VGA inputs where I could switch between my computer and the 360, instead of just the one.

Yeah the Acer is pretty sweet, even in fast moving sections it stays pretty crisp, well worth the money I spent!

Kendra, just pick up a switchbox for ?12 to ?15, I did and it makes life so much easier (plus eliminates the chance of you breaking a VGA connector somewhere along the line). Got mine in Maplin, plenty of places sell them online.

Are there any monitors that are 16:9?

                          My brother uses this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=MO-017-OK
Works brill. Has DVI and VGA, so PC in the DVI 360 in the VGA.

might be worth noting that play.com sell Hanns monitors also (99% sure they would be a good few quid cheaper on there)

I have just got a Hanns TV for just under ?300, just over with P&P I may add it to the review section later on. It seems pretty good value for money and no dead pixels on a first scan last night. 2 scart, 1 DVI-D a VGA connection some composite and component I think.

Still new to this HD stuff, had to ask friends to help me. LOL!
