    neogeo AES 60hz mod

    Hi,

I'm getting a Neo Geo soon and its believed to be a language switched PAL Neo. I found out in case its dreaded 50hz, a 60hz mod is very easy by just cutting the PAL1 jumper.

But is that really all I have to do, no more extra's? I have a PAL TV that can output 60hz btw, and the Neo comes with Megadrive 1 RGB.

    tia.

    Yep - that's all.

have you seen exactly where to cut it? There are diagrams all over the net if you do a quick search.

Well I found some pics that seem to be clear enough. There is only one PAL1 marker?

But I had read about some incompatibility issues.. however this seemed to apply to people with ntsc tv sets. Since the console is already switched.. maybe its been 60hz modded already.. I hope so. Saves me some work

But anyway, if its not I now know that this jumper cutting method is probably enough. It just sounded way too easy to be true

You might want to do the mod to make the RGB better, and maybe a unibios.

9/10 all consoles have been modded by now anyway as anyone with the sense to blow tons of hard cash on home carts usually has the wit to differentiate between 50/60hz.

My first Neo was a PAL machine and it came 60hz from some total randomer.

Yeah the 60Hz mod is piss easy to do. Although it's PAL60, not true 60Hz. To get it true 60Hz you'd have to change the video crystal.

Simply find the resistor to the top right of the cart slot and unsolder one of the joints.

You can even add a single pole single throw switch to it to flick between 50/60Hz. Just wire one point on the switch to the joint and the other to the resistor.

The RGB mod will depend on the version of the console. I've been lucky with having all my systems be low serial numbers.

Just don't use composite as the Neo deserves so much better. Wouldn't mind another Neo myself, but would go the CMVS route this time as I've done AES, CD and cab before.
