GT Pro Series - any impressions ?

Anyone bought it ? curious as to what it's like and how the control system is via the Wii Remote steering wheel thingy.

I personally liked the previous game GT Cube, but seem to be in a small minority.

    Thanks.

I've played it and it's a real stinker. The controls are horribly unresponsive, only working properly on straight runs. IE: When you DON'T have to steer. In addition, the graphics look horrendous.

Stick to Excite Truck or even NFS Carbon instead.

With drift handling, yes, it's not very good.

Set your deadzone to 1, steering angle to 30 and choose racing handling. It's very precise and I've played through the whole game with these settings.

It's a little better than all the reviews make out.

It's not as bad as most reviews and stuff are making it out tbh. Yeah the graphics are terrible but I found it to be a fun, if limited, arcade racer.

I'm glad I read this post. I was going to buy it on the 1st of January but now I think I'll pass. Why can't they just give it normal controlls? The Wii remote will be crap for racing games. For a start it's too light plus has no force feedback. Normal controlls are what a racing games needs.

Played a racing game with it yet? I've found it works perfectly well.

Yep, played that 4x4 one and need for speed in Toys R Us. The thing is that it feels nothing like a steering wheel which they are trying to imitate plus you can't do sharp minor adjustments at high speeds like you can with a d-pad or analogue stick.

It's 'fun' in ExciteTruck, and has rumble, but it's certainly less precise than an analogue stick.
Same goes for using the PS3 Sixaxis in RR7 and Motorstorm.

have you tried playing racing games with the plastic steering wheel attatchments?
I got the sports pack attatchments and they are spot on!

Both GT Pro Series and Monster 4X4 are great with the steering wheel. I ordered NFS Carbon this evening, so I'll be using the wheel with that too.

have to agree with Radirgyman, with a wheel attachment (I'm using the one included free with Monster 4x4) steering is fantastic, and I don't know what problems Yakumo is having to be honest as I've found it even better than an analogue stick for steering.

Sigourney, from what my m8 said, the controls on NFS Carbon are abysmal and you can't actually use it as a steering wheel thing as apparantly you have to use the analogue stick for steering. (can't vouch for it as I ain't tried it myself)

I've been a bit cautious over NFS but I decided to go for it after reading some opinions on the Gamespot forums, and a video of someone playing it - perfectly under control using the remote sideways. Apparently, there's five different control configurations, so I should be able to get on with one of them.

Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam was a risky purchase for me coz I'm not usually into skateboarding games, but it's really good. This is the next risky purchase, due to the reviews on the steering controls.

heheh, I jus remember Official Nintendo Magazine slating it (54% from them :O) and saying you're better off with the GameCube version.
