    To those who paid customs

My machine is coming via USPS, and presumably Parcel Force when it gets to the UK. I've been advised to keep an eye on my tracking data and as soon as customs is charged, phone them and pay it asap to avoid delay.

Okay... what do I need to look for in the tracking data to know it's ready for payment, and what number do I phone?

Thanks! | Obviously wanna reduce delay as much as possible

"Released with charges" on the tracking info.
I used the number on their site, it's under customer services iirc.

Ah, may as well give it a go and see what they say.

At this rate, I'm talking long into the distant future anyway...

It Saturday... does the process move on weekends? (as in USPS, Customs or Parcel Force)

If it's awaiting payment, then it'll stay on awaiting payment.

It's nowhere near that stage! I assume still travelling around the states.

I've bought my PS3 from the same seller as you, it was shipped 4 days and I'm still waiting. When I track it on USPS the only information it gives is that my item has been accepted.

The really annoying thing is I probably would have had my PS3 by now, as I paid for UPS courier but then he sends it by USPS cheeky bugger, so I've asked him the refund the difference in cost.

for all the stress and expense of importing one of these you could of got a wii and judt waited it out till march.

importing just isn't what it used to be. back in the n64 and DC days u paid about 60 more than uk price and had your machine delivered next day from an importer in the uk who covered all the import dute upfront.

buying from ebay is a nightmare.

I've got a Wii though. I saved hard for a Wii and a PS3 last year, is what I was working towards, and I'm actually paying less for my PS3 than I expected to pay.

Your point is correct of course, it just doesn't apply to me as such

I've also got a PS3 on its way from the US. It was dispatched on 7th via USPS Priority, and the status on usps tracking has been 'International dispatch' since thursday. I guess there should be some update after monday, I HOPE.......

No status update on mine since last Tuesday, same with another member here who bought one on the same day from the same seller...
We do both have working tracking codes though.

I remember those days well. One Tuesday morning during January 1999 I decided to steam into work and ask my boss for a ?500 loan so I could get a DC with Sonic and VF. We negotiated as he had some requests on what I was learning at the time, anyways, the next day I had my DC via courier.

Jan'99-Mar'99 was probably one of the best times for importing as well. So much class in that timeframe.
