    Wii online help please

OK, basically I want to connect my US Wii to the net and grab some retro games and what not - am I right in thinking it has WiFi built in?

if so, heres where I need some tech support - I have no WiFi in the house what so ever but - am I right in thinking I can get a USB WiFi dongle for my PC, connect my PC to the internet and make the WiFi dongle act as a router/access point?

If so, I understand theres only a certain few that will allow itself to be used as an access point - I just wondered if someone can reccommend one to me?

assuming that works for the Wii - the same should apply to my PS3/DS/PSP - right?

    Thanks in advance

I'd buy a wireless router if I were you. It's more expensive, yes but it's better if you're gonna connect several consoles to the net.

If you're gonna go for a Router, I'd recommend the Netgear DG834G. I got one myself and I use it to connect my Wii to the net and it works great. It's easy to set up and use.

What do you mean by "dodgy" btw...

I don't see why a Router wouldn't work with AOL.

The difference is that the 108 mbps model can acheive faster speeds. The 54 mbps model is what I have and is perfectly fine for your online gaming needs.

thanks for the speedy responses - i've done some digging - as it turns out the router you specified is the one AOL use in their new WiFi broadband deals - i'll see if I can grab one from them!

                Thanks again

The 108 mbps models can only achieve faster speeds with compatible clients - ie PCs with "turbo" wireless cards. I'm more confident in the reliability standard 54mbps 802.11g routers.

                    Stroller.
