    N64 controller maintenance

What do you guys do to keep you controllers in tip top condition?

Back in the day when control pads were all digital it wasn't really an issue, but I have noticed my N64 controllers analogue stick is getting a little 'gitty'. Is it just a question of getting some lubrication in there or is there something else I can do.

    Thanks for any help.

I've cleaned loads of N64 controllers now.

I just open them up, remove the buttons and clean them (and case) in some soapy water, rinse and leave to dry.

With the analogue stick I open that right up, remember where it all goes though, and wash the plastic bits as before (this is where you'll see all the 'muck') and then when I put it back together I lubricate it with some silicon grease (vasaline will do).

You may need to slightly, and I do mean slightly, stretch the spring.

Put it all back together, and you've got yourself a nice N64 controller again.
