Replacing XBox 360

Hey guys,

Just a quick question.

I've had a fault with my 360... its just suddenly stopped working and 3 red lights come on. Contacted Xbox support (Very rude and not at all helpful) told me it would be a couple weeks before I would get it back.

I'm getting anew xbox 360 on WEdnesday to hold me over...

Just curious as to this:
They have told me to remove the hard drive and keep that with me. If i buy a new 360 and put my old hard drive in... will my gamertag, downloads, and game saves all be on the harddrive? OR will they be on the system itself.

What things will I lose that will be on the system?

It's all on the hard drive.

However, if you've downloaded any arcade games you'll have to be online to access the full versions of them. Same goes for additional content (eg GRAW chapter 2).

Just didnt want to lose my achievemnts and stuff like that.... Does my gamertag stay on my hard drive as well and log on? As I wont have access to the internet for it.

Nah. It's not too much (well - maybe DoAX2 is - but that can be our little secret).

I have two 360s (one PAL and one NTSC-J). I swap the hard drive between them and have no problems with gamertags, achievements etc.

How long have you had the 360? Might be possible to just take it back to the retailer & get it replaced without the MS hassle......most shops will let you keep your old hdd if you say you want to keep your saves/content etc. (obviously they'll remove the new one from the pack).

You didn't buy it from somewhere like Gamestation did you?

Pretty sure another member was in the same boat & GS were able to find the sales record on their system by entering his name & address. Even printed a new receipt off for him iirc.

nah... game... but i bought it on my reward card.

tend to remember when i worked there we rarely took consoles back.

im going to make sure they give me a premium 360 and not a core as i want exactly what i had

IE: the chrome disc tray.

I hope i dont get these issues again. Has the 3 red light issues been sorted by Microsoft yet, as apparently it happened to a lot of consoles.
