Wii standby question

I got a Wireless router and set up my US Wii (no problems), just one thing - when I switched off my Wii before the update the standby light was red its now yellow.

I assume thats due to it detecting the WiFi right?

I think the red light comes on when you hold down the power off button for 2 secs, then I am guessing it is not using 24-connect..... when the amber light shows it is defo online because from time to time i'll get a blue flashing light to tell me i have a message!
